Christmas Day - Rotorua. Known best for its geothermal activity and natural hot pools, and as we would soon learn, quite an interesting aroma. We also found out all about Zorbing, Luge, and what the heck Roadkill Chicken tastes like.

The smell of sulfer was everywhere. A friend that Simon had met online, Naomi, who happened to work as a travel agent in Rotorua, took us in for some good ole fashioned home cooked Christmas Dinner. “Roadkill Chicken,” or oven baked chicken split down the breast, was rather quite good. I have to say it was quite strange to spend what normally is such a family oriented occasion with 2 complete strangers. Though, they were most generous and we had a blast playing cards, drinking (which they were rather good at), and telling stories late into the night.

The main highlights of our 2 days here were seeing the bubbling geothermal pools, Luge, the Swoop Swing, and of course, Zorbing.
