I wanted to build a
model that I could learn how to use Mudbox with and after
looking at the amazing caricatures in Sebastian Kruger’s
book, “Kruger Stars,”
I decided on the Chesney Baker Head because I felt that
the piece has a great deal of character.
I build the base poly head in Maya and then worked exclusively
in Mudbox to sculpt all of the detail and fine wrinkles.
I then textured it in Photoshop and rendered it out again
in maya.
Shortly after posting this online, I was asked to create
an online tutorial for 3DTotal.com which I had a blast making.
I included a link to that at the bottom. After the tutorial
was published, I learned that both myself and the Kruger
book had mis-labeled this image, which is actually William
Burroughs.
