We met up in the morning for the 2 hour scenic bus trip through the protected land of the Fiordland after quite a few memorable stops, (Mirror Lakes, the Chasm), we arrived for our cruise of the Sound.

This was my favorite part of the whole trip, though it is very hard to pick just one thing. But the view here is just unbelievable. You take the small boat all around the Sound and look up hundreds of feet to the mountain tops. There are so many random waterfalls everywhere, just peaking out of the mountains, it was incredible.

If that wasn’t enough, we were lucky enough to see a school of dolphins and one of them, just one, decided to head straight at the boat. Jess and I were beyond lucky as he jumped up right in front of our section of the boat and proceeded to swim with us for about a minute before he headed back to his friends, that was just unbelievable.

We made our way back to Te Anau and rested for the night after this quite long day.

The next morning we made our last drive back to Queenstown and had enough time to walk around a bit more, grab some lunch, lay down in the park under the willow trees before our flight back to Wellington. We had to make a short stop in Christchurch and then about an hour later we were home.

I don’t know what to say at this point other then it was by far the best vacation I’ve ever had, or even thought possible. You owe it to yourself to somehow find a way to come out here and see these incredible sights, it’s worth the flight over from wherever you live, trust me you won’t be sorry.
