The drive to Hanmer Springs was one of the nicest surprises of the trip. There were just gorgeous mountain views and loads of streams and river beds. We pulled over quite a few times to take it all in. We arrived and it was quite cold outside, maybe 60 degrees so the hot water felt great. The temperature ranged from about 70 -90 degrees and although some of the pools smelled like sulfur, it was very relaxing afternoon. After a few hours here we drove down to Chirstchurch for the night.
