This was by far one of the coolest experiences of the whole trip. A glacier hike through the rain forests of Southern New Zealand… sounds like a good day to me. The glacier was just massive; I couldn’t believe how big the thing was. And, to our surprise, this is actually one of the few glaciers in the world that is growing. Thanks to about 150 inches of rainfall a year on the tops of the mountain, this glacier grows at a rate of about 3 meters a day if I recall correctly.

It was also cool to see how the glacier has cut its way through the mountains and carved it path over year and years, just amazing. Our tour guide was great and I highly recommend this trip for anyone getting the chance to visit the South Island.
